Description
Here is another MINT STILL SEALED BEATLES or BEATLES-RELATED LP from my collection. Please check my other auctions for others.
In this auction:
· “IMAGINE” by John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band (comprised of the following depending on the song: Klaus Voorman, Alan White, Steve Brendel, George Harrison, Nicky Hopkins, Rod Linton, Ted Turner, Rod Linton, John Tout, John Barham, Jim Gordon, King Curtis, and Mike Pinder).
· This LP is Apple Records SW - 3379.
· This LP is in MINT STILL SEALED CONDITION. It is STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. This LP has a “DESIGNATED PROMO” punch hole near the top right corner. There is a 3-inch split in the shrink wrap on the bottom near the opening.
· The Shrink Wrap has “breathe holes”, and there is NO BAR CODE.
· The LP in this auction was issued September 9, 1971 with “MFD BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” printed on the perimeter of the Apple label OR in September, 1975 with “ALL RIGHTS RESERVED…” printed on the perimeter of the Apple label.
· So, THERE IS AN APPLE LP INSIDE THIS STILL SEALED COVER. How do I know this since the cover is still sealed?
Because the first two issues of this LP were issued on the Apple Records label in CARDBOARD COVERS. The pressings after the Apple pressings were all in issued in posterboard covers. THE LP IN THIS AUCTION IS IN A CARDBOARD COVER.
· I recall maybe 10-12 years I won a couple of sealed Beatles LPs from Perry Cox, and he had stated that they had green Capitol labels (issued 1969-1971). The shrink wrap was split about 5-6 inches in the middle of the opening with 2 pieces of clear tape at the top and bottom of the cut to avoid complete splitting of the shrink wrap. I understand that this was done to spread the opening a bit, and with a small light, shine inside to see the label.
· I followed the same procedure on this LP. I applied 2 pieces of clear tape about 3 inches from the top and bottom of the opening and slit the shrink wrap in between the 2 pieces of tape. I did not proceed to examine the labels because I knew from the cardboard construction that this cover had vinyl with Apple labels inside.
· This LP was also issued with 1 of 2 PHOTO or POST CARDS that measured 4” x 6”. One photo/post card shows John and Yoko as characters from mythology, with John playing pipes and Yoko as a wood nymph. The other photo/post card shows John holding a pig by the ears. One photo or post card should be inside this cover.
· This LP was also issued with a 22” x 33” POSTER picturing John at his white piano. It came folded inside the cover. You can see the edge of the poster at the “DESIGNATED PROMO” punch hole where it has shifted to that spot during handling.
· And it was issued in a DIE-CUT PAPER INNER SLEEVE that has PHOTOS, LYRICS, and CREDITS printed on it.
