In this auction:

 

·       “WHAT YOU GOT” by John Lennon  

·       This is Apple Records P - 1878.

·       This is a PROMOTIONAL SINGLE with MONO on the A-side and STEREO on the B-side.

·       This record was issued in December of 1974.  

·       The labels state that this song is “from the LP ‘WALLS AND BRIDGES’ SW 3416’”. 

·       This is an UNUSUAL APPLE PROMO RECORD because the catalog number P – 1878 was issued for TWO PROMO RECORDS: “What You Got” and “#9 Dream”!

·       Apple Records assigned the catalog number 1878 to its 45 RPM single pressing of “#9 Dream” on the A-side b/w “What You Got” on the B-side.

·       Normally, Apple would issue only 1 promo 45 RPM record for the A-side (#9 Dream) in mono and the B-side in stereo. HOWEVER, Apple instead issued TWO PROMO RECORDS for #1878: One promo record has “#9 Dream” in mono and stereo and the other has “What You Got” in mono and stereo AND the same catalog number P – 1878 was assigned to BOTH PROMO RECORDS.  

·       As you may know, 45 RPM PROMO RECORDS were released by record companies ONLY to the radio stations and DJs for airplay to promote the artist and new LP. They were not released or made available to the general public.

·       The VINYL is VERY NICE NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION. The labels are clean with NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears, and NO wear.  

·        A Near Mint Apple Records stock sleeve is included.
