RARE LENNON UK FIRST ISSUE APPLE LP, WITH ‘SOLD IN UK….’ LABEL TEXT, ONE OF ONLY TWO ALBUMS RELEASED ON THE EXPERIMENTAL APPLE LABEL, 'ZAPPLE'!
'Unfinished Music No 2: Life With the Lions' was released by Apple UK in 1969. This was one of only TWO UK albums issued on The Beatles Experimental Apple Label, 'ZAPPLE', launched on 9 May 1969, the other being George Harrison's ‘Electronic Sounds’.
The official stamped trail out groove information is: Side 1 matrix: ZAPPLE 01A-1 and Side 2 matrix: ZAPPLE 01B-1.
The stampers are: Side 1: 1/G and side 2: 1/M.
This RARE album (John’s second UK solo release) comes in its Original White PRINTED APPLE Inner Bage and is housed in its Original UK 1st Issue Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse GATEFOLD Picture Sleeve, printed ‘Made In Merrie England Nov. '68’ to the reverse of the sleeve.
The side 1 record label is in FINE excellent plus, with only a few light spider trails and a few tiny white spots, which appear to have resulted during the manufacturing process. The side 2 record label is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition. Sides 1 of the Heavyweight Vinyl Disc is in NICE excellent plus condition, with only a few light surface scratches. Side 2 of the Vinyl disc is in STUNNING near mint condition with just a couple of light surface hairlines. The Original fully laminated Garrod and Lofthouse Sleeve is in very good condition, showing some wear to the bottom and gate edge, record indentation, and some laminate ‘pinching’. The Spine is FINE, the title, catalogue number and artists clearly readable. The Original Printed Apple Inner sleeve is RESPECTABLE shows some age tanning and a 1.5" split to one of the seams.
