READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP 1964 The Beatles’ Second Album First Pressing LA in Shrink, NICE VG+ Vinyl!

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  Oddly enough, each side has one very light soft mark, non-feelable, and then two or three stray angel hairs.  Had it not been for those two soft marks, the vinyl would have graded Excellent.  Beautiful shine and high gloss, both sides about 90%.

Plates--- A5/A5.  Definitely first-run plates.  LA being the mother plant, the grooves are cut deeper and the sound is richer. 

** This copy has the wide 5-pointed star in the dead wax from 1963, as opposed to the more familiar machine-stamped asterisk from 1964, making this a first pressing from Los Angeles.

Cover--- NM.  Perfectly-preserved cover.  Looks 1964-brand new.

Breathe Holes--- There are no breathe holes in the shrink.  This copy was shrink-wrapped from the end of the roll, which has the shrink seam on the back cover.  Shrink is looser-fitting than regular shrinked albums. 

It could well be that looser-fitting shrink from the roll’s end doesn’t trap dust snuggly enough to cause dirtwear under the shrink.  Just a thought…

Labels--- EX/EX.  Each label has a small amount of short spindle marks.  Otherwise, they’re gorgeous full-gloss, bold colors.

**Rarer 1963-style Capitol labels have the text in thicker lettering, the word, “STEREO” much shorter and tighter-spaced, and the titles center-justified under the playhole.  These are definitely first-run printed labels.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+.  Original dark blue Capitol inner sleeve would grade as Excellent, except for just one very small ¼-inch side seam split.  Has the West Coast thumb tab top.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 6

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
