READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s in beautiful collector-grade condition.

Beatles LP 1965 Help! MONO Rare Decca “You’re Going to Lose That Girl” First Appearance Label, EX!

Most collectors are aware that from the 1968/1969 “Subsidiary of…” label run onward, the track, “You’re Gonna Lose That Girl” on Side 2 was changed to read, “You’re Going to Lose That Girl.”  But what most collectors don’t know is that the 1965 Decca MONO pressing from four years earlier had already changed that title on their in-house Side 2 label.  (See compere photos.)

There was also a very late Los Angeles pressing from 1967, who had redone their Side 2 labels to read, “You’re Going to Lose That Girl,” but this Decca consignment label was the very first to make the change.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides shine like 1965-brand new.  The only exception is that Side 1 has a very long, but extremely light scuff.  (See photos.)  Side 2 has two or maybe three very light and very short lines, none of which can be felt with the fingertip.  Those can’t even be photographed.  Between both sides, the LP shines an easy 95% brand new.  Beautiful copy!

Plates--- P6G/P6G.  The extra letter suffix was Decca’s in-house cataloguing system not found on Capitol-pressed discs.

Cover--- VG-.  Could use a better cover.  Still presents as VG+, though.  Front and back covers are moderately yellowed.  The biggest issue with this cover is that the top pocket seam is split about 2/3 of the way.  Spine’s slick is also cracked all the way, but it isn’t split.

Gatefold--- VG+.  Looks pretty nice, except for a little bit of dirtwear at the top center of the right panel.  NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Gorgeous 1965-new.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

**Side 2 label does list “You Can’t Do That,” as well as the Ken Thorne credits.  So while this is a second label pressing format, it’s the first label to change the track 5 song title.

**Labels are flat against the vinyl, which identifies it as coming from Decca lathes.

**Concentric ring is very close in to the playhole, which also identifies it as coming from Decca lathes.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG-. Original 1965 olive green Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Sleeve presents very well, but all three seams have splits a few inches long.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)

**Check out my other auctions for more hard-to-find vinyl!
