READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX. They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label. I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.
The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split. Here’s one that’s a real beauty.
Beatles LP 1966 Yesterday…and Today First Pressing MONO in Shrink, VG++!
This is one of the nice pieces of this collection!
Vinyl--- VG++/VG++. Retains 90% original mirror-like gloss. However, each side has a handful of extremely light hairlines. Vinyl is too strong for a VG+ grading, and is just this side of an Excellent grading. Still a very beautiful piece of vinyl.
Plates--- G10/G12. Machine-Stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.
Cover--- VG+. Shrink is still tight, and it did a great job protecting the cover. However, previous owner explained that he wet a small section of the front cover to see if this was a Butcher (which it isn’t), which then trapped some moisture and created a moderate water stain on the front and back covers by the mouth. It also encouraged yellowing down the mouth on both sides. Too bad. If he wanted to know whether this was a Butcher, he could have just met me and asked. NO SPLIT SEAMS. Not even almost.
Breathe Holes--- There are two breathe holes on the front cover. One is to the left of John’s shoulder. The other is to the left of Paul’s trunk, due south. You know. Paul the Elephant.
Labels--- NM/NM. Both labels look 1966-brand new. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present. Water stain is barely noticeable on just one side. Two seams have some fairly large splits, though. You can replace this sleeve with a better yellow Capitol inner sleeve, and nothing bad will happen.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 3
This copy has a couple issues, but it’s still a very nice keeper!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
