READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP 1967 Sgt. Pepper First Pressing Title on 1 Line STUPID RARE UNDOCUMENTED JAX, EX!

Not many collectors have seen one of these in person.  This label variation is not discussed in any of the great books, and therefore, it remains undocumented.

During the first pressing first run A-plates, and for a very short time, the Jacksonville plant had printed up these labels that fit the title on just one line.  The vast majority, probably 99% of Jacksonville labels from 1967 through to the “Subsidiary of…” 1969 pressing printed the title on two lines.  See compere photo.

If you’ve never seen one of these before, you should probably take it to mean that you’re not going to see one again.  At all.  This may be your last chance to see one in person.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides could pass for NM, had it not been for Jacksonville’s manufacturer’s defect of a little bit of cloudiness on Side 1, and one stray hairline on Side 2.

Plates--- A17/A15.  Definitely first-run plates from the first 1967 pressing.  Machine-Stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- EX.  And I mean EX.  You very rarely see a cover that’s this clean from the first run!  Collectors know that only the first-run covers are missing the vertical print up the spine with the copyright date and the NEMS Enterprises disclaimer.  This copy is missing it.  See compere photo.

With the exception of a very small stain on the front cover of the yellow top band, this cover is nice and flat, sturdy and sharp.  Top and bottom seams have very light shelfwear, bottom white seam has light foxing.

You’ve seen first-run covers.  You know that the back cover in particular usually has moderate to heavy ringwear around the edges.  Not this back cover.  Not even almost.  And NO RECORD OUTDENT, NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Gatefold--- EX, if not NM.  I’m afraid of that grade, but this gatefold could qualify if I grew a pair.  NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Gorgeous rare labels look like they were just printed.  Side 2 has a cool Jax error of over-printing.  I always liked those.  NO SPINDLE MARKS ON EITHER SIDE.

Insert--- VG+.  Insert has some strange speckling created during its printing.  Never seen that before.  It has kind of an Easter effect to it!

One very light crease on the left-hand side, and just two light finger divots that I can find with scrutiny.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original red gradient sleeve is present.  Presents as VG+, but with light yellowing, and a bottom seam split about 2 inches long.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

This would make an incredible Christmas gift for some very lucky collector in your family, or among your friends.  If you’re a collector yourself, you’re never going to need to upgrade this copy.  Not because it really is that beautiful, but because you’re never going to see another copy to upgrade it to.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
