READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP 1971 A Hard Day’s Night Black/Orange Label Weird Transition in Shrink, NM!

Collectors know this label as having been issued in 1970.  But I’m pretty sure that this copy was a transitional copy from this label variation to the 1971 tan label variation.

Firstly, if you should happen to have a copy to compare to this one, the vinyl quality is thinner and more flexible, just like the improved quality of vinyl used for the 1971 tan label issues.  The 1970 vinyl stock is thicker, and it dulls with time.

Secondly, the concentric groove on this label is thinner than the regular 1970 issue.  It has the same groove as the tan labels do.

And thirdly, the dead wax info is slightly smaller than the regular 1970 issue. And for some reason, the catalogue number in the dead wax adds an extra letter.

I’m almost certain that this pressing is the 1971 tan label issue, using some leftover 1970 labels.

Vinyl--- NM/NM.  Both sides look shiny and brand new.

Plates--- XUAS 6366 A re/XUAS 6366 B re.  No, I’ve also never seen the extra “X” in the catalogue number before.  I knew you were going to ask me!

Cover--- EX.  Shrinkwrap did a marvelous job, protecting the cover.  However; there is some very minor shelfwear to the bottom seam.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Breathe Holes--- There are two breathe holes on the front cover.  One is in the white “B” in “Beatles.”  The other is due south in Paul’s hair.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Labels look 1970-brand new.  “The Beatles” does not appear on the label.  See compere photo.

Inner Sleeve--- VG+.  Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Being uniformly yellowed after 50 years is its only issue.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original company inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
