The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night – Genuine 1964 UK 1st pressing– The very earliest 1st issue with chunky typeface labels and yellow & Black Parlophone rim labels, ‘Recording First Published…’ and with ‘Sold in UK’ Catalogue number PMC 1230. Pressed ahead the 10th July 1964 release date.
An investment grade copy of this the earliest Hard Day’s Night UK 1st pressing.
A wonderful copy which has barely been played. I would say side two has only been played once with side one receiving only a handful of plays in it 53 year history.
The record is the earliest 1st pressing with the broader and chunkier label typeface. ( For reference see page 168 ’The Beatles For Sale on Parlophone Record’s by Bruce Spizer & Frank Daniels)
A seminal album and one of their best - ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ was the first album where artist and composer wrote and performed all their songs.

CONDITION
Disc
Visual: MINT-
The disc appears MINT when viewed in strong daylight, even when viewed under a halogen desklight nothing more is revealed. This is flawless vinyl without any marks and appears to be in the same condition as the day it left the factory; an all MINT grade would not in my opinion be inappropriate or unreasonable, so MINT- is a most conservative grade. The heavyweight vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXC+to MINT-
A great set of these the earliest variation with the chunky typeface labels which indicate this is a genuine UK 1st pressing. Both labels are unworn. On very close inspection I detected a light spindle trail on label one although it is invisible in most light. Label two has some ultra faint spindle trails, once again only visible in certain light. I would estimate that side two as only been played once, with side one receiving no more than a handful of plays. Side one has the KT tax code.
Audio: MINT
As the visual appearance of the record confirms the audio is both flawless and stunning. All gaps are silent and there is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals whatsoever. If I Fell, And I Love Her, along with Things We said Today have breathtaking analogue audio only found on early pristine UK vinyl copies. For all the subsequent re-mastering nothing quite beats this original UK mono cut. This is truly an audiophile copy which will not disappoint. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick and there are no pops or ticks.

EXC+ to MINT-
A stunning example of this early 1st issue E J Day cover. The front panel is in pristine condition, totally unworn without any thumbnail creases or other handling marks. The laminate retains its original high gloss factory sheen. The original opening edge is sharp and in remarkable condition. There is some minor bruising to the bottom left corner but other than that the front panel would grade at MINT. The rear panel is clean and free of any writing or personalisation. All flipbacks are strong and fully intact. Apart from some light areas of ageing and discoloration towards the bottom of the rear panel there is very little to fault. The EJ Day rounded spine, which is prone to damage is in pristine condition. The cover grades at or around near MINT.
