They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP Beatles’ Second Album UNCONFIRMED ERROR 1969 Apple Label Pressing NM!

In the course of researching and writing a two-volume set of books on rare Beatles labels of American pressings, I have come across several labels that are so scarcely seen that they are either not yet mentioned in any of the existing books, or they are thought not to exist. 

Here’s a perfect example of one that has never been mentioned.

A very few collectors are aware that there exists a 1971 Apple pressing with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer on the full Apple label side, which on Side 2 has an extra numeral 2 in the song listing.  The error counts the songwriting credits for “Long Tall Sally” as song number 2, and then there is an additional numeral 2 for the track, “I Call Your Name.”

However, there are even less collectors who know that there exists that same error on the “Subsidiary of…” labels from 1969 to 1971.  These didn’t last very long in production, because they are very difficult to track down.

I have verified that there is an even scarcer variation of the “thought not to exist” variation with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer on the half-Apple label!  (No, I don’t want to sell it yet.)

No copies with this error have yet been discovered on any of the “All Rights Reserved” variation, maintaining its “thought not to exist” status.

If anyone has one of these “All Rights Reserved” copies and can email me the photos, I will include them in my books.  Been looking for 40 years…

Vinyl--- NM/ NM.  Both sides look unplayed.

Plates--- B6/ B6.  Early Apple pressing.  Machine-stamped wide 5-pointed star as opposed to the asterisk still makes this a Los Angeles pressing.

Cover--- VG+/ EX.  Structurally solid, this cover has NO SPLIT SEAMS OR SPINE.  Light ringwear on both front and back covers.

Labels--- NM/ NM.  Beautiful, brand new-looking labels.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut holes for the labels to show through.

RIAA: 18.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
