READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP George Harrison 1970 All Things Must Pass Only Decca Pressing I’ve Ever Seen!

At least I think it’s Decca.  It has concentric label grooves that are consistent with Decca discs.  I suppose it’s possible that it’s out of the Pinkneyville plant, but their concentric grooves were very slightly closer to the playhole, as well as being raised further off the labels than Decca’s, however; those Pinkneyvilles usually have that strange machine-stamped logo in the dead wax that looks like a symbol used by electricians.  This copy lacks that.  Decca seems the most-likely answer, since their plants were still in full swing.  They were also still pressing discs for their subsidiary labels, being UNI and MCA in 1970.

The box, inner sleeves and poster are all Made in U.S.A., and the labels are also U.S. labels.  

The Side 3 label has the U.S. error, “Awaiting On You,” found on several U.S. first pressings.  So we know that this is a first pressing U.S. copy.

The rest is a mystery.

Vinyl--- EX/NM. NM/NM. NM/EX.  Side One has just one extremely light line that you will need a bright light source to find, otherwise it’s radiant NM.  Side Six has some manufacturer’s defects that interrupt its beautiful shine.  This set of vinyl is stunning gorgeous!

Plates--- Z29/Z26. Z27/Z26. Z26/Z29. (Later plates are also consistent with Decca pressings, which started around the letter “P.”) None of the expected machine-stamps are present, e.g. “Bell Sound” or one of the Capitol insignias.

Cover--- VG.  I wish the box were better for such a rarity.  Top has become detached from the box.  Top center on the back has a split.  Some of the lid corners are split.  Spine has lost some gold in the lettering, but you can still make out the title in the depressions of the spine.  See photo.

Poster--- Excellent.  Beautiful poster has NO SPLITS.  The only things keeping this poster from a NM grade are that on the back, there is a stain of some sort, which did not soak through to the front.  Also, there is something written in Spanish in ballpoint in one of the corners.

Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. NM/NM.  All labels have high gloss, more consistent with Decca than Pinkneyville.  Side Three and Side Four labels have creases in them from the factory.

Apple Inner Sleeves--- All three are VG.  There is some fraying, some small seam splits, but not very bad ones at all.

Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Apple inner sleeves en route.

This has to be an incredibly rare pressing.  I’ve not seen another copy in 48 years of collecting, and I’ve been looking!  Hate to give this one up, but someone else should have a turn at solving the riddle.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
