Description

Some pretty hard-to-find, rarely seen items up this week.  Have a look at them all!

Beatles LP John Lennon/Yoko Ono Double Fantasy EXTINCT CAPITOL RECORD CLUB ISSUE! NM IN SHRINK!

Note:  This record is often confused with the more common purple Capitol issue, which is rare in itself.  These record club issues are far more scarce, as their plates were refreshed to 1A plates, offering a superior sound quality.  They were only offered by the Record Club for a very short while.

Therefore, in order to differentiate them, I am including side-by-side comparisons for many of the photos.  Please be aware that photos with a blue border are from an LP that is not for sale in this auction!  They are from the more common purple Capitol pressing.  That said…

Vinyl--- Near Mint, unplayed.  I bought this album sealed, and opened it in order to see what the labels looked like, but I’ve never once played it.

Plates--- 1A/ 1A

Cover--- Stunning NM, still in the shrinkwrap. Capitol breathe holes are present.  Several difference exist between the Record Club cover, and the commercially released purple Capitol cover:

1.    Disclaimer at the bottom left front cover designates this copy as under license by Capitol Records.  Above this disclaimer is the catalogue number with the insertion of the Record Club number 5, prefixing the commercial catalogue number.

2.    Back cover has no bar code, as does the commercial release.  The Record Club catalogue number is repeated here, with the 5 prefix.

3.    The disclaimer at the bottom right of the back cover credits Columbia House Record Club on the Capitol label.  The commercial copy does not.

4.    The spine of the Record Club issue repeats the 5 prefix to the catalogue number.  The commercial copy does not.

(See photos for comparisons.)

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Near Mint. Still has a strong static cling. There are a couple differences between inner sleeves:

1.   The disclaimer below the lyrics for “Hard Times Are Over” are slightly different, in order to accommodate this copy being a Record Club issue.

2.    The catalogue numbers are different by the insertion of the 5 prefix.

3.    (See photos for comparisons.)

Labels:  These two issues have starkly different labels.  They are so stark, that all you need to do is to compare them in the photos.

These are rare!  And this one’s Near Mint.

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  I’m selling these records in order to meet my rent, bills and doctor’s appointments.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
