They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP Rubber Soul 1966 Mono UNCONFIRMED VEE JAY PRESSING CONSIGNMENT, VG+!

For nearly 50 years, I’ve been working on confirming which of The Beatles’ catalogue titles exist, that were pressed by the same plants and lathes that pressed Vee Jay albums.  Known for their deep and rich sound quality, these records are so hard to find!  They feature the following dead wax information found on some Vee Jay albums:

**1.  Both sides have the “Audio Matrix” stamp, deep and legible.

**2.  Both sides have the date of the plates’ preparations hand-etched, which in this case is “9-27-66.”

**3.  A second set of dates are present, which only include the month and year.

**4.  Dead wax catalogue numbers do not have Capitol’s alpha-numeric plate codes.  The catalogue numbers on this LP are consistent with Vee Jay’s plant codes.

**5.  The labels bear the concentric ring similar to Columbia’s.  These are closer to the labels’ edges and are thin.  These concentric rings are found on copies of “Introducing the Beatles” with bracket logos and left-justified, single-spaced titles.  

I have previously only verified that three titles exist that were pressed by Vee Jay, which are:

“Meet the Beatles,” mono copies only

“The Early Beatles” mono copies only and

“Revolver,” mono and stereo copies.

I recently discovered this mono copy of “Rubber Soul.”  It’s the first and only copy I’ve ever seen since I started collecting in 1975.  And so we have now documented that a fourth title exists.

This copy will be featured in the next edition of my books on flash drive, and you can own it!

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  Both sides shine 85% brand new shine.  But they also have a few hairline scratches and very short scuffs.

Plates--- T1-2442-A/T2-2442-B.  No Capitol plant insignias are present, since this copy wasn’t pressed by Capitol.

Cover--- VG+.  Structurally solid cover.  I’ve wondered whether Vee Jay assembled the covers as well.  The white border on the front cover is so wide that the mono dot nearly fits in it.

Cover has light to moderate ringwear on the front and back. Very lightly yellowed back cover.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Labels are second pressing, with “The Beatles” under their names.  Both look 1966-brand new, NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Vee Jay Inner Sleeve--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  One side has the tell-tale glue strips that show up with age.  Sleeve presents as VG+ with light wrinkling and record outdent, but one side seam and the bottom seam have splits less than an inch long.

For those who would prefer having the appropriate olive green Capitol inner sleeve, I’ve provided one, so as not to damage your original Vee Jay inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
