Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper RARE W9 Jax Press, Wrong Mix of Good Morning Good Morning
Many collectors are aware that the 1968/69 Jacksonville pressing of Sgt. Pepper had a very rare pressing of the album, in which the right channel of the song, “Good Morning, Good Morning” drops out completely just a few seconds into the song, and stays out until the very end. This dropout only occurred on the Side 2 W9 pressing plate at ONE pressing plant for less than ONE year. These copies are very hard to find, but here is one for your collection in really great condition.
What most collectors don’t know is that there is a miniscule number of these records that were pressed on the Apple label that same year. THAT LABEL VARIATION IS UNDOCUMENTED. (I had written to the great Mr. Perry Cox, who was very surprised at the photos I sent him of my copy.)
Well, it’s also for sale this week, and so far, it’s the only copy verified to have surfaced. Be sure to check it out in my other items for sale this week, and compare the plates. I test-played it a few years ago, and the dropout is most definitely present.
As for the specs on this copy, read on:
Vinyl--- Supernice, almost all shine on both sides. Few light hairlines on each side. Glows like an almost-new record.
Plates--- X8/ W9
Cover--- Strong, sturdy cover, NO SPLITS to the seams. Small area of slick missing at the bottom right front, and at the center back, there is a small tear.
Labels--- Both labels NM, NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Issued in a plain white sleeve, no die-cut hole for the labels to show through. I wrote “W9” in an upper corner, in order to be able to easily find it in my collection, since I own multiple copies of each title. Faded around the edges, bottom seam split. Will ship LP in a plain white sleeve in order not to further split your original inner sleeve.
Insert--- Insert is present. Flat, razor-sharp, NM except for slight dulling over time, and some yellowing on the back. Nice!

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
