A FEW ITEMS FROM MY A-LIST THIS WEEK, ALONG WITH MORE UNPLAYED ALBUMS FROM THE COLLECTION.

READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper RARE W9 Plate, Wrong Mix of Good Morning, Good Morning Still in Shrink

I bought this copy off Perry Cox’ eBay auctions in 2004.  Very hard to find 1969 reissue from the Jacksonville plant only, featuring the defective plate that causes the track, “Good Morning, Good Morning” to drop its right channel.  (Or is it the left?  I forget, and now I can’t play it.)

Vinyl--- NM/ EX.  Just one or two extremely light brush stroke scratches on the entire disc.  You’ll need a bare bulb to see them.  Under normal room lighting, the LP looks NM.

Plates--- X8/ W9.  Jacksonville pressing.

Cover--- NM, still in shrinkwrap.  Two breathe holes on the front cover, left-hand side.  Gatefold has never been opened.

Front cover has the wider white stripe above the word, “Stereo,” which is usually found with all of the 1969-1970 issues.  (Black “Subsidiary of…” greet Target and Apple with Capitol logo.)

Back cover has two original price tags from the record shop.

Insert--- NM.  The insert is present and in great condition.  I never took it out of the cover in the 19 years I’d owned it, except to photograph it for this auction.

Labels--- NM.  Both labels look 1969 brand new, NO SPINDLE MARKS.  Side 1 label has a really cool slight error, in that it was misseated when struck.  The top part of the rainbow is thin, and the bottom part is fat.  Side 2 label has some bubbling in the yellow and green regions of the rainbow.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Plain white sleeve with no die-cut holes for the labels to show through.  Small tear at the top, small split at the bottom center seam.  I penciled in “W9” in one corner, so as not to accidentally sell it before I wanted to.

RIAA: N/A.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
