READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP Something New 1968 Subsidiary of…Consigned Columbia STEREO, NM/EX!

Collectors know that the 1968-1969 “Subsidiary of…” run was only in print for a very short time, because it was out there at the exact same time that the Apple label was introduced to the record market.

But collectors also know that consignment pressings were predominantly in MONO, and that the consignment plants were not pumping out LP’s with the same ferocity as they were prior.  That means that these STEREO 1968 consignment pressings are VERY hard to find.

This one was pressed by Columbia Records, and it’s in collector’s standard NM/EX condition.

Vinyl--- NM/EX.  Side 1 looks unplayed.  Side 2 just has some manufacturer’s cloudiness in one area of the playing surface as well as a tiny, light scratch or two, which keeps it from being a NM side.  Disc shows 99% brand new shine.

Plates--- X8/X8.  Each side also has Columbia’s plant code “54” on both sides.  No Capitol insignias, because this one wasn’t pressed by Capitol.

Cover--- VG.  But a strong VG at that.  Structurally solid cover, the only real issues are that the front cover has light to moderate ringwear, the back cover has light to moderate browning, and the top and bottom seams have light shelfwear.  Top back cover also has a very small, very light water stain.  Bottom corner has a light crease, mouth has some wrinkles.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Both labels look 1968-brand new.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Sleeve has the West Coast thumb tab.  Both sides have moderately browned.  One side seam has a split just over one inch, and a bottom seam split about 1/8th-inch.  Sleeve has the corresponding water stain that the cover does.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 6, which believe it or not, is probably correct, given that the inner sleeve is a West Coast sleeve.

A gorgeous keeper for your collection of the rarer pressings.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
