READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Beatles LP The Early Beatles HYBRID 1964 and 1969 Labels, Contract Pressing, RARE and NM!

**NOTE: This is the copy that is featured in my new book on flash drive, “Demystifying the Beatles.” Side 1 label is featured in the 1969 chapter, and the Side 2 label is featured in the 1964 chapter.

This is the only contract pressing of the 1969 issue of “The Early Beatles” that I have ever seen.  For a title that didn’t sell nearly as well as the other titles, it’s a strange wonder that an outside pressing plant, in this case, Columbia Records, was even needed to press extra copies.

In this case, the Side 1 label uses the 1969 West Coast LA “Subsidiary of…” label, and the Side 2 label is an East Coast Scranton 1964 first pressing label on a disc that was pressed by Columbia Records!

Truly hybrid.

For audiophiles, the sonic qualities that you notice with Columbia albums from that time (Santana, Janis Joplin and Moby Grape) are in full presence here.  As opposed to Capitol’s crisp high end, Columbia has warmer midrange.  (Simon and Garfunkel and Dylan albums demonstrate that beautifully with their sparser arrangements.)

Hard-to-find, and in beautiful condition!

Vinyl--- NM/NM.  Both sides shine like brand new.

Plates--- W6/W6.  No Capitol insignias are present in the dead waxes.  Instead, machine-stamped “A1” and “A2” are present, which may indicate that the plates were refreshed by Columbia’s plant.

Cover--- VG.  Front cover has moderate ringwear, back cover has moderate dirtwear.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Labels look bright and brand new.  Thin-cut concentric groove closer to the outer edge of the labels come from Columbia lathes.

Columbia Inner Sleeve--- EX.  Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Very slight uniform yellowing on both sides.  One small tear at the top lip keeps this sleeve from grading EX.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 3

(NOTE:) Be sure to have a look at my new book on flash drive, “Demystifying The Beatles,” on sale now!  Endorsed by Perry Cox, this flash drive contains the most extensive database created so far, of American Beatles album labels, many of whom I guarantee the most seasoned collectors have never seen!)

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
