READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Beatles LP Twist and Shout First Pressing Canadian 1964 VERY Strong VG/ VG+

This copy very easily straddles the space between a very strong VG and VG+.  I grade conservatively under a bare bulb, and I still can’t decide under which grade to place this one.

(VG?  Well no, it’s definitely better than VG.  VG+?  Well…errr…not exactly comfortable with that grade either.)

It’s, I’ve decided, one signal strength bar lower than VG+.  How’s that?

Vinyl--- Each side has a generous share of angel hair lines, but they’re floating in a sea of 85% high original gloss.  A couple of the lines are long ones on Side 1, but they’re faint.

Plates--- XEX-455-2/ XEX-456-2.  As there were no American plates prepared for this album, they were prepared from the British master tapes.

I did test-play this album, and the mono sound is punchy and loud.  There is some surface noise between tracks, but not crackle.

Little Fun Fact:  The British mono LP mix has a funny little tidbit at the end of the track, “Twist and Shout.”  John famously waited until the very end of the one-day recording sessions for the “Please Please Me” album to record the vocal for this song, which is why his voice sounds so gritty and blown out.  At the end of this mix, if you’re wearing headphones, the very last sound you hear as the last chord is fading out, is John whispering into the mike, “…God.”

Cover--- Also a very strong VG.  Structurally solid, the seams and spine are muscular strong.  NO SPLIT SEAMS OR SPINE.  Front cover has light to moderate ringwear, most noticeable at the top.  Back cover has moderate dirtwear and light yellowing.

Thick cardboard construction makes this a first-printed cover, as opposed to the thinner stock and high gloss of the 70’s and 80’s reissues.

Labels--- NM/ EXCELLENT.  They look nearly brand new.  The specks that you see in the photos are not dust.  They’re reflections off of the high-gloss.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+.  Had it not been for a 3-inch seam split to one side, this sleeve would have been graded as Excellent.  It’s otherwise just as strong as the Beatlemania! Inner sleeve.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None.  This is a Canadian LP.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
