The Beatles – White Album - Original complete 1968 UK 1st pressing in stereo with original top opening numbered sleeve and dark green Apple labels with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text dating to on or before the original release date of 22nd November 1968.

A stunning example of this iconic Beatles album.

Disc

Visual:

Disc 1: Side one MINT-  Side two EXCELLENT+

A stunning looking disc which has hardly been played and appears to have been out of its inner sleeve only two or three times in its life. The disc appears mint in strong daylight. On closer inspection under a halogen desklight side one is still difficult to fault and is close to an all out mint grade. Side two has some fine sleeve removal/micro marks which become visible under halogen light.

Disc 2: Side three EXCELLENT  Side four EXCELLENT+

Disc two looks impressive when viewed in strong daylight although there are some light superficial marks which can be seen on closer examination and under strong halogen light.

Both discs lay 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels:

Disc 1: MINT-  Disc 2: EXC+ to MINT-

Labels one and two have only two very faint spindle trails and grade at MINT-. Labels three and four show more evidence of play and grade at EXC+ to MINT-. All labels remain fresh and clean and have no wear around the spindle hole. There is no writing or personalisation to any label. All labels carry the ‘Sold in UK…’ label text confirming that the discs are 1st pressings.

Audio:

Disc 1: EXCELLENT+ Disc 2: MINT-

There is  no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. Disc one has some occasional light surface noise on some of the quieter passages including some light background noise on Dear Prudence.  The easily damaged track While My Guitar Gently Weeps plays superbly in glorious analogue sound as does Piggies, Happiness is a Warm Gun and Julia. Disc two grades at nr MINT with most tracks grading at MINT. Tracks such as Everbody’s Got Something to Hide Except me and My Monkey, Sexy Sadie, and Savoy Truffle have superb undistorted analague sound with a richness only audible on unworn vinyl. There are no loud pops and ticks and neither disc jumps or sticks.

EXCELLENT+

A fabulous example of an original 1968 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve. Incredibly difficult to find a UK 1st issue sleeve which has not yellowed over time, this sleeve however is in remarkable condition and still retains its original white or cream appearance showing very little signs of ageing.

The front panel still retains its original high gloss laminate sheen and there is no thumbnail creasing or wear so commonly associated with these covers. The laminate over the word ‘The Beatles’ is clean and undamaged. All four front corners are sharp. The only flaw worthy of mention is a slight laminate crease towards the top right corner. The interior gatefold is also in superb condition with only a slight laminate crease or bend to the bottom left flipback.

The rear panel has some bruising to the top left and bottom right corners. On close inspection and when angled towards the light I noticed a faint memory impression of a price/catalogue number towards the top right but this is invisible in most light. The spine is in almost perfect condition with no residue trapped under the laminate as is common with these covers. Overall a superb example and now becoming very tough to find in this condition.

Inner-sleeves EXCELLENT+

Original 1968 black inners in superb condition.

Photos EXC+ to MINT-

Original 1968 photos in superb condition. George’s photos has slight mark and grades at exc+ the rest are close to MINT.

Poster  EXCELLENT+

Original 1968 ‘lipstick’ poster in excellent+ condition with only light signs of handling. There are no tape marks, pin holes or writing to any of the poster.
