Most collectors would be aware that the cover here, with it’s pink lettering and different photo-shots on the black background, is exclusive to Australian issues and it also features the 50’s style Parlophone ‘logo-box’ at the top R/H corner which also differs to overseas releases of this album.

Trivia buffs are probably also know of the clanger on the back cover notes by Tony Barrow where, in the third last paragraph, ‘our side of The Atlantic’ is mentioned.

Certainly one of the more highly regarded albums in the Beatles catalogue and a nice one here condition-wise for collectors.

Vinyl - play-tested completely both sides : Plays through great with a mostly clean and crisp dynamic sound. I say mostly as I noted a few light pops (no skips) on the song ‘All My Lovin’ and another on ‘Till There Was You’ … I re-cleaned the album and played it again and these light clicks were still there however, as always, vinyl will play differently on another turntable, for better or worse. Side 2 tracks along brilliantly with no pops and again no skips.
A nice thick platter at over 160 grams and deep grooved which helps, some light marks but only surface and still heaps of original shine. Overall a very pleasing copy and rated a VG+ with confidence … others may rate this a little better.
Labels : A little bit of sticky-tape residue on Side One … otherwise clean.
Sleeve : The laminated front cover in very nice condition. A touch of ring wear and light creasing. No edge-wear to speak of and the spine is intact. A little wear to outer corners. The back cover has a previous owners name in small writing at top left and again light ring-wear. No other writing. No splits and if you are at all familiar with this sleeve you would know how hard it is to find one without any imperfections … just about impossible really unless it is an 80’s re-issue. So on that score this jacket stands up very well for an early 1964 issue and easily worth a VG+ rating.
