Item Description/Condition
SUPERB, TOP example of this SCARCE AND BRIEFLY ISSUED Original 1976 UK FIRST ISSUE Stereo Vinyl LP for THE BEATLES UK Parlophone release, MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, featuring tracks taken from The Beatles TV film Magical Mystery Tour.
For reasons unknown, EMI did not advertise this FIRST ISSUE UK Parlophone LP in any way at the time. Consequently it did not sell very well, and failed to chart at the time, making it SOUGHT AFTER now, due to its BRIEF release.
The disc is on the official Black & Silver Parlophone Label, with ‘Mfd in the UK by EMI Records’ label rim, printed to both sides of the record labels.
Both record labels are in SUPERB near mint condition – A FINE set of UNDAMAGED, UNFADED record labels, and no more than just a couple of faint centre spider trail visible.
The Side 1 matrix: YEX 959-1 and side 2 matrix: YEX 960-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1/P. Additionally in the trail out groove at the letters HTM and Side 2 stampers: 1/A, together with the letters HTM.
Both sides of the Vinyl disc are, without hesitation, in near mint condition - Virtually FLAWLESS viny, just one light surface hairline visible to side 1.
Play Quality:
The album plays as good as it looks – SUPERBLY through ALL the tracks, with NO skips or clicks.
The record comes in its ORIGINAL EMI ‘Care of Your Record’ printed white inner bag, and also advertising EMI Record tokens for gifts. The bag is in SUPER near mint condition, NO seam splits, NO handwriting, NO tearing, just mild inevitable creasing.
The album is protected in its ORIGINAL UK First Issue GATEFOLD sleeve, incorporating a very nice 24 page booklet, stapled within the Gatefold Sleeve. The booklet contains colour photographs and cartoons taken from the Magical Mystery Tour film. The lyrics to each of the songs are printed on the inside of the back cover of the gatefold sleeve. (Please note that this is the ORIGINAL 1st issue 70’s Gatefold sleeve not to be confused with the 1980’s re-issue bar coded sleeve).
The Gatefold sleeve is an IMPRESSIVE near mint example. FIRM, FLAT and SQUARE, no corner bumps, no record indentation, just a small corner crease to the bottom right hand corner of the reverse of the sleeve. The 24 page booklet too is mint, NO loose pages, NO tearing, NO creasing or handwriting to any of the pages.
This is an Extremely IMPRESSIVE example and hard to believe it was issued nearly 34 years ago!
