Beatles MFSL LP Abbey Road PROMO COVER and LP Only One I’ve Ever Seen!

Note:  In January 1980, I was working at a Sound Odyssey record store.  A sales rep had dropped this copy off for us to use as a demo for in-store play on our high-end turntables.  The store manager already knew that if he didn’t let me keep the album after the promotion was over, that a serious poxy would befall his fair complexion, and that everyone he loved would point at him, and scurry the other way screaming.  Which is how I got this copy.  To date, it’s the only demonstration copy cover that I have ever seen.

Cover---Top and bottom seams have minimal damage.  Spine has moderate wear.  Front and back covers are gorgeous.  The demo stamp is in the upper right-hand corner, stamped in gold graphics and font, reading, “Demonstration Copy Not For Resale.”

Vinyl---Not having been able to maintain exclusive control of the vinyl on my days off, there was one very small, very light mark that the vinyl sustained at the beginning of “Come Together.”  Otherwise, this copy is still in store-stock condition.  However, please be aware that you should give it a good cleaning on a VPI machine.  It’s been in storage for thirty years, and it plays back with some surface noise, which will be eliminated with a nice remoisturizing.

Labels---Beautiful white labels, a wisp or two of spindle marks on each side.

Paperwork---All paperwork is present, as is the cardboard wraparound.  The promotional glossy has light finger divots from our staff.  Other paperwork is flat and gorgeous.  Original rice paper protective sleeve is present, no splits.

A very sweet and rare piece from the MoFi series.  I also have a Demo “Magical Mystery Tour,” but you can’t have it.  I’d love to hear from anyone who has one of these, and can send me a photo.  Honestly, I’ve never seen another one since 1980.

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
