Description

In 1967 The Beatles had 6 songs to release, and it was decided that they would release a double-EP set. The package came with a gatefold sleeve and a 28-page book including lyrics. This EP had the catalog number Parlophone MMT 1 (mono) and SMMT 1 (stereo). It was the first Beatles EP to be issued in both mono and stereo.

The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour EP was released more than 2 weeks before the Magical Mystery Tour film premiered on BBC television. It was very well received by the public (but the TV film was not.)

IN THIS AUCTION:

·       “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” by The Beatles

·       This is a UK Pressing.

·       It is the ORIGINAL DOUBLE-EP PRESSING with gatefold cover and 28-page booklet stapled inside.

·       This is Parlophone Records MMT 1.

·       This is a MONO (monaural) pressing. I’ve heard that the MONO pressing is more difficult to find than the stereo pressing.

·       This double-EP was released December 8, 1967 in the UK,

·       The COVER and BOOKLET are in nice VG+ CONDITION. The cover is laminated and shows light wear and light aging. There is some wear on the bottom left side of the cover and a small “ding” (check images) and otherwise light wear on the bottom edges and bottom of the spine. The booklet is fully attached to the cover; it’s not loose at all. (The booklet inside the U.S. LP cover often came loose from the cover.) NO SEAM SPLITS.

·       The VINYL CONDITION for RECORD 1: STRONG VG. There are some hairlines and scuffs on both sides. There is a black label (similar to those produced by a Brother P-Touch label maker) on the Side 1 label that has “WENDY’S on it with a little of the label pulled on the right side. I assume someone tried to remove it by lifting the right end, saw that damage would result, and stopped. (Wise decision!) The labels show some light spindle trails. Record 1. Side 1 contains: “Magical Mystery Tour” and “Your Mother Should Know”. Record 1, Side 2 contains: “I Am The Walrus”.

·       The VINYL CONDITION for RECORD 2: WEAK VG+. There are some light hairlines and scuffs on both sides and some light spindle trails on the labels. There is a black label (similar to those produced by a Brother P-Touch label maker) on the Side 3 label that has “WENDY’S on it. I assume someone tried to remove it by lifting one end slightly, saw that damage would result, and stopped. (Wise decision!) Record 2, Side 3 contains: “The Fool On The Hill” and “Flying”. Record 2, Side 4 contains “Blue Jay Way”.

·       I found this while exploring the Portobello Road Market in London in 1989.

·       It’s a nice ORIGINAL BEATLES UK PRESSING of this hard-to-find MONO DOUBLE-EP RELEASE to add to your vinyl collection.
