Rare Beatles Collection For Sale
First, let’s have the disclosure: If you know about these records, and want them, then there are condition issues to discuss. This set was stored for years, and when I retrieved it, about 10% of the outer covering was gone, as you can see in the photos. Gypsies? Rats? Dick Cheney?- I don’t know. But the records inside are as pristine as when they were released, and if that is what counts to you, read on.
The certificate that comes with the set is for Number 5214.
I played only one of these discs when I got them, and then never again, and thereafter played none of them, so all the discs are in Mint condition, and everything that came with the boxed set is still inside, including the 14 discs, the full-sized photo album of all their album covers, and the “Geo Disc” although I’m not sure what that is. All the discs and the photo book come wrapped in the original rice paper, and everything but the box is MINT.
Here’s what Wikipedia says:
Audiophile company Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab released a… box set in 1981 called "The Beatles - The Collection" consisting of the twelve British versions of the albums (Rarities was not included) pressed off the original Abbey Road studio master tapes using a technique called "Half Speed Mastering" and pressed on Japanese "virgin" vinyl. The set was highly acclaimed for it's sonic accuracy and only approximately 10,000 were released. In this case, the actual covers for each album was a photo of the studio master tape along with the engineer's log sheet. The original album covers were put together in a full sized booklet.
The set is the ultimate Beatles collection for Beatles collectors.
