Description

Beatles Mono Collection – Japan – red vinyl – NM/NM     Yes, the box set, but without the box!  This is a complete set of the LPs of THE BEATLES MONO COLLECTION, which was a limited edition of all 11 Beatles LPs that were ever released in mono.  Only 1000 copies were made, produced in Japan in 1986.  Again, no box.  Each LP is on superior Toshiba red vinyl, and comes in a rounded plastic inner sleeve inside faithful reproductions of the original UK outer sleeves.  Each LP also contains an informational insert including lyrics in English and Japanese.    The same LPs, same catalog numbers, were also released at that time for individual sale, with obis.  The box set was released without obis on the individual LPs.    Label:  EMI-Odeon Catalog #:  EAS-70130 through EAS-70138, and the White Album is EAS-67157 and EAS-67158.  Released:  June, 1986 Limited Edition:  only 1000 were produced   RareBeatles.com description:  “20th anniversary commemorative release, contains 11 mono releases, all on red vinyl. Limited edition of 1000. Individual LPs did not have Obi's. One of the most difficult Beatles box sets to find as many were split up and the records sold individually.”    This collection arrived in a tattered and musty box, but the LP sleeves themselves are beautiful, glossy, and in NM condition with the exception of the White Album, which has a slight crumple in its upper right corner extending about 1/2 inch.  Upon inspection of the vinyl, we removed some sparse dust with cleaning solution to reveal beautiful, clear, red vinyl, free from marks of any kind -- not even a fingerprint.  Visual grade NM.  It’s clear that they were physically handled properly, though may have been left on an open turntable or stored with inner sleeves facing out, thus accounting for the light dust originally seen.    Images:  Whole collection:  http://www.therabbitholeusa.com/music/beatles-mono-collection.jpg Red vinyl:  http://www.therabbitholeusa.com/music/beatles-red-vinyl.jpg
