THE BEATLES & TONY SHERIDAN - 'MY BONNIE'/'THE SAINTS'

Recorded in Spring 1961 and released in Germany later that year, this disc is the first appearance of The Beatles on record anywhere in the world. This is the first of two pressings of this 45 released by Polydor - the 1st pressing carries the 'Mein Herz is bei dir nur' subtitle to the sing title on the label. The second version replaced this with a 'Twist' subtitle which was also added to the picture sleeve.

This rare & EXCELLENT example of that 1st pressing is on the German orange/gold stars Polydor label 24 673

The introduction to the song 'My Bonnie' is sung in Germany. Later pressings substituted an English version.

Housed in an original (not a repro/copy) & correct 1st pressing picture cover. Later copies added the word 'Twist' to the front.

A perfect vivid, vibrant and unblemished set with not a trace of wear to either.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain a fine deep-gloss shine, having clearly been always stored within its sleeve. The only significant mark in strong daylight is a 5mm scratch on side 1 which can just be felt but does not affect play. Closer examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals numerous but harmless wispy paper-type hairlines but no further significant blemishes or wear. Both sides of this well looked after copy lie 100% flat on the turntable.

Play: EXCELLENT

Both tacks were superbly recorded, the sound quality throughout is extremely high and highly impressive throughout. This well-looked after copy has received a moderate amount of careful play and my single careful play-check found just slight wear to some loud peaks on 'My Bonnie'. However, there are no other significant traces of wear on either side or any major faults.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A very respectable example of this fragile cover which bears some light storagewear but is remarkably free from any writing, tears or splits. Tough to find another in better shape.
