THE BEATLES - 4 By the Beatles
Confusingly titled nearly identically to Capitol's other EP, Four by the Beatles, 4 By the Beatles is the third of the three US-released Beatles EPs. Being not quite as popular as Capitol had hoped, these EPs are very scarce and hard to find in well-preserved condition. Capitol did not shrink wrap any of its singles (or Meet the Beatles), and the past 50 years has certainly worn the great majority--a testament to this copy's rarity.
This particular copy features a display-quality sleeve and comes with its original disk (starting copy).
CONDITION
Labels: VERY GOOD-
General wear around the peripheries and a small amount towards the spindle hole. Black marker on side 'B'.
Visual: VERY GOOD-
Under bright LED light, the vinyl shows numerous hairline scratches. On side 'A,' there is one light scratch, and on side 'B' there is one light scratch and one light-moderate scratch.
Audio: VERY GOOD-
The playback has noticeable static, though not overpowering, and the recording is still enjoyable. The above mentioned scratches do produce popping for the first few seconds of the two opening tracks.
Sleeve: VERY GOOD+
The sleeve is overall in great shape, though it does show some age. The corners are all sharp with only the slightest bumping and paper loss to the bottom left and no creasing. The spine and bottom have a small amount of wear, as is virtually inescapable with these EPs; however, all the seams are solid and intact. The main detracting feature is a small amount of rub wear/aging that is present on both sides towards the middle of each side.
