Description

Attention Serious Beatles Fans!

This is an amazing pair of vintage 1964 covers with the original vinyl.  The LP is the 1964 VJ 1092 gate fold album, "Songs Pictures And Stories Of The Fabulous Beatles."  The 45rpm is the VJ 587 black label single "Do You Want To Know A Secret" & "Thank You Girl" in the rare Christmas picture sleeve.

I will also include the Beatles' two disc CD set "Live at the BBC."  It contains a compilation of 69 tracks recorded from 1962 to 1965 live on British radio.  It has no monetary value at all.  They are my own home made discs, which I copied from the original discs.  I'm only including them because they're so enjoyable and they fit the timeframe of the two records I am selling.  If you enjoy the Beatles and you haven't heard these CDs you're in for a priceless experience. If you have heard them you'll enjoy owning them.

Chicago's VEE-JAY Records distributed all Beatles records in the U. S. from February 1963 to October 1964 when Capitol Records took over.  "Introducing The Beatles" on the VEE-JAY label was the first Beatles album to be released in the U.S.  On this LP, VJ 1092, they retitled the album cover as "Songs Pictures and Stories Of The Fabulous Beatles" but they left the original title of "Introducing The Beatles" on the vinyl record inside.  The Beatles portraits on this LP and also the Christmas sleeve were drawn and designed by Hollywood graphic artist George S. Whiteman.  VEE-JAY released the Holiday picture sleeve in October of 1964, and put it on all of their 11 existing Beatles 45's.  Thousands of fans re-purchased singles they already owned to get the Christmas sleeve.  They were only available for a few days in October due to the fact that on the October 15 deadline VEE-JAY Records had to stop releasing Beatles music and Capitol Records acquired rights to all of the Beatles music and began releasing it on their lable.  After 50 years the Christmas sleeve as well as the gatefold album have become quite rare and very collectable.

The gatefold album is in near new condition.  I am the original owner.  I played it once when I bought it and then put it on the shelf in a smoke free home.  When polypropylene album cover sleeves became available I put it in one and it's been in it ever since.  Even back in 1964 it seemed like an unusual cover so I played my other Beatle records but left this one untouched so I wouldn't wear out the fold or damage it.  I took a photo of the top edge of the album cover where there is a 1 1/2 inch section in the middle with some slight flaking of the black edge.  The seam has not separated at all and it is still tight and strong.  Other than that the album cover is in perfectly new condition.  The left edge with the album name and number looks brand new.  The colors are clean and bright.  There is no fading, stains, scuffs, wrinkles, marks, or damage of any kind.  The vinyl itself has its original sheen and has been unplayed since I bought it so there is no wear at all.  The lable has the rainbow colored band and it is in absolutly perfect condition.  The spindle hole is completley unworn.  The inside trail-off area of the record has the hand etched matrix number 63-4302.  As I was photographing the record I accidently put a very slight, superficial scuff on side two, but i'm sure it won't affect the play.

The Christmas sleeve is bright and colorful with no marks, stains, or fading.  As you can see on the photo, it has been torn and separated about 2 inches from the top, with another tear of about 3/8 inch near the middle.  Since there is no paper missing, this damage should be easily repaired by a professional.  When it has the record in it the damage dosn't show and it displays well.  The vinyl record itself has had very, very little play.  It has no scratches and the surface is new looking.  Due to the fact that I puchaced this 45 on the secondary market there is a small hole punched through the label.  It does not touch any of the printing on either side.

I will carefully pack and quickly send these to you buy U.P.S. Ground with tracking and full insurance coverage.  I offer FREE shipping for domestic customers.  For international customers I will calculate the shipping cost and only charge that amount.  Please check my feedback and buy with confidence!

These two records with these rare covers will be like owning a piece of rock & roll history.  Over 50 years there are relativly few left in good condition.  Most of the vinyl was worn out by early Beatle fans playing them for hours at a time.  The items I am selling are absolutly authentic, original, vintage 1964.  Through the years, there have been many copies, bootlegs, and imitations made of the rare covers, and of the vinyl records as well.  Some of the album covers are not gatefold covers and do not fold open.  Buyers should check the photos carefully and be sure of what you are getting.  Mine are genuine as stated.  I have photographed, and disclaimed every flaw so there are no hidden surprises.  This is a great chance for any Beatle fan to own a highly collectable pair of records in really beautiful condition, which over the years should only increase in value.  So bid now and don't miss out.  Questions welcome.  Thanks for looking and good luck!
