Beatles PLEASE PLEASE ME 1st press LP Mono gold Dick James credits NEMS cover 1963
Rare UK mono first pressing of the Beatles debut album dates from March 1963 on the gold & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202.
This disc features a 1st variation gold & black label on both sides, with the incorrect 'Dick James' publishing credits for tracks 1, 2, 6 & 7 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
On later pressings this is corrected to 'Northern Songs Ltd' .
There is no purchase tax code present in the centre of either label.

Housed in the early correct front laminated tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with original poly-paper lined 'Use Emitex..' inner-sleeve plus additional plain sleeve.
All protected by an original polythene sleeve identifying this as having been purchased directly from NEMS Ltd, Brian Epstein's music store in Liverpool.
CONDITION
Labels: Very good
A clean set with very light wear to the gold print in the centre, a couple of very light scratches on the side 1 label but the side 2 label is clean. Some signs of wear around the spindle hole.
Visual: Very good
Playing surfaces show light paper scuffs and a few light scratches including three straight needle scratches, one on side 1 and two on side 2 - these are not evident on playing. No warping.
Audio: Very good+
The disc has been played all through on appropriate equipment and sounds amazing. There is no trace of any playwear or any clicks, pops or other such distractions anywhere, just a hint of regular vinyl background between tracks.
Cover: Very good+
A respectable, fully intact example with a vibrant & glossy high-gloss front panel laminate bearing a few light laminate wrinkles and some wear to the corners with the lower left, as usual, bearing the most. There is also some wear to the front opening edge. The rear panel is intact, lightly discoloured and marked, with a crease to the lower flipback, but otherwise all are in place. Original 1963 sticky price label.
Inner-sleeve: Very good
Clean with some storage wrinkles and creases but no writing. 1" seam split to one edge from opening.
Protective sleeve: Very good+
Clean, light creases across corners, some wear to opening and 1" seam split to one edge.
NEMS polythene sleeve: Good
This sleeve has done its job and shows some wear including a tear to one opening edge.
Grading system used:-
Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever.
Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or
defaced.
Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
