Summary:

On the MAGNIFICENT Black and Gold Parlophone Label this is the Rare STEREO version of The Beatles FIRST UK Album, considered the most collectible UK Beatles album of all time. With only 900 reported to have been pressed, one can only imagine how many are actually in existence today, certainly VERY FEW in the WELL CARED FOR condition of this one, and if that’s not enough, the SOUND QUALITY of this album matches that of the visual grading and is nothing short of SUPERB.

Please Please Me was the band’s DEBUT UK album. There was obviously much interest from the increasing fan base to listen The Beatles first album. Most were passed around at parties, thoroughly enjoyed, and therefore many became badly damaged – but NOT THIS ONE - and we can honestly say that this is one of the more IMPRESSIVE examples to have come on the open market more recently.

Detailed Album Description/Condition:

This Rare STEREO Vinyl LP is the VERY FIRST PRESSING released in the UK in 1963 on on the Phenomenal BLACK with GOLD Print PARLOPHONE Label, with the DICK JAMES MUSIC Publishing credits for the tracks Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want to Know a Secret and There’s a Place.

Both record labels are in excellent condition, with minimal light fading to the gold print and only mild wear to the centre spindle holes.

Matrix and Stamper information:

Side 1 matrix is: YEX 94-1 and Side 2: YEX 95-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1/G and Side 2: 1/R.
There is an embossed MZT tax code to the centre of the side 2 record label.

Side 1 of the HEAVYWEIGHT Vinyl Disc is in excellent condition, EXTREMELY GLOSSY UNWORN vinyl with no more than just a few light non-sounding surface scratches. Side 2 of the Vinyl Disc is in excellent plus condition, with only a couple of light surface hairlines visible. There is NO scuffing or deep scratches to either side of the disc.

Audio Quality:

Having played the album through, the Sound quality is SUPERB, Clear early STEREO Audio, NO skips or clicks and only the mildest of background crackle between the first three tracks on side 1 (as one track goes into the next).

The HEAVYWEIGHT Vinyl LP comes in its ORIGINAL Polythene lined ‘Use Emitex…’; inner bag which is excellent condition, with only light creasing and a 2" split to one of the seams.

….And the album is housed in an ORIGINAL Laminated ERNEST J DAY Flip Back Sleeve, printed with a large stereo to the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve, and Angus McBean to the bottom right hand corner of the front of the sleeve.

This is one of the NICEST Original Ernest J Day Please Please Me Laminated STEREO sleeves that you will find in excellent condition. Most suffer from a lot of wear and tear, however, this one has survived REMARKABLY WELL. The Front panel is very FLAT and FIRM and still retains its DEEP GLOSS and VIVID COLOURS. There is barely any record indentation. The opening edge is FLAT with only minimal wear. The top and bottom edges of the sleeve are UNDAMAGED. The Spine Edge too is UNDAMAGED and the printed wording ‘Please Please Me – The Beatles’ is clearly legible. There are mild corner bumps to all four corners, and a laminate crease to the bottom right hand corner. The Reverse Panel of the sleeve is CLEAN, BRIGHT and FIRM, with only some mild age tanning to the opening edge. All three flipbacks are UNDAMAGED.

An IMPRESSIVE example of this HISTORIC Beatles FIRST UK LP in STEREO. Without doubt the most collectable and SOUGHT AFTER UK Beatles album in existence today!
