The Beatles FIRST 1963 UK Album, ‘PLEASE PLEASE ME’ is considered HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE and from our vast experience this rare variant seldom comes into stock.
Album Description and Condition:
Released by Parlophone/EMI UK in 1963, this ORIGINAL 12" MONO VINYL LP is on the traditional BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE Label, with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd’ label rim, but WITHOUT‘Recording First Published 1963’label text and with‘Made in Gt. Britain’ label text on both record labels
The record labels are in TRULY SUPERB EXCELLENT PLUS condition, a LOVELY, CLEAN, looking set of record labels, with no more than just a couple of hardly visible centre spider trails to the either side.
Side 1 matrix: XEX 421-1N and Side XEX 422-1N.
Side 1 stampers: 2/AR and Side 2: 1/RL.
BOTH sides of the vinyl surfaces are in EXCELLENT condition, GLOSSY vinyl with no more than just a few light surface hairlines, but no scuffs.
Play Quality:
As expected the album plays SUPERB through ALL the tracks. A POWERFUL, CLEAR Mono sound with NO skips and surprisingly minimal background crackle during or between the tracks, there is a small click on track2 side 1misery
The album comes in its ORIGINAL ’Use Emitex….’ Lined Bag which is in VERY CLEAN excellent condition - just mild inevitable creasing, and no seam splits to any of the edges,
…And is housed in its ORIGINAL and LAMINATED, Ernest J. Day‘mono’ sleeve, with three flip backs to the reverse, printed ‘Angus McBean’ to the bottom right hand corner of the front of the sleeve.
The sleeve is nice excellent minus condition. The front panel is FIRM, FLAT and CLEAN, the Laminate EXTREMELY GLOSSY, and the colors DEEP, RICH and VIVID, with minimal light wear to the opening edge. The top, bottom and spine edge are FIRM and UNDAMAGED, and the spine edge clearly reads ‘Please Please Me The Beatles’. The reverse panel of the sleeve is CLEAN and BRIGHT, showing some staining to the topand mild age tanning also a little creasing to two of the flip backs.
A nice example of this extremely rare early variant of the Beatles first UK ALBUM.
