Beatles PS & 45 Love Me Do/ P.S. I Love You 2 First Pressing Label Variations
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
For auction this week are several Beatles picture sleeves which feature two different first pressing 45 label variations. The second variation discussed will always be the harder one to find.
Have fun with them this week!
Love Me Do/ P.S. I Love You
Sleeve: Nice sleeve. Bold colors haven’t faded! Each side has a moderate amount of wrinkles and finger divots appropriate to its age. George has something on his shoe on side one, just a tiny white spec. Side two has a small amount of ringwear. All three seams show some wear-off of the slick. Flat-cut top. NO SPLIT SEAMS!
A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your company sleeve during shipping.
Tollie Yellow Label:
Vinyl: Beautiful EXCELLENT vinyl, both sides! This 45 has seen extremely little play time. Few and far-between very light angel hairs on each side, looks 98% 1964-brand new!
Labels: The more common yellow labels with the thin box have some sort of staining. Beyong that, they are free from writing, stickers or wear of any kind.
Plates: Audio Matrix and URJ, both sides.
A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your company sleeve during shipping.
Tollie Black Label:
Vinyl: VG+/ EXCELLENT. Side one vinyl has a patch of very light scratches, and the rest of that side is visually NM. Side two has one very light scuff and then an occasional angel hair. Good-looking piece of vinyl.
Labels: The far scarcer black label variation of the same layout as the yellow label. Catalogue sticker on side one label. Other than that, both labels are NM.
Plates: Audio Matrix/ Audio Matrix and URJ. Judging by the legibility of the Audio Matrix stamps on this disc, I’d venture to guess that this copy was an early pressing. Most Audio Matrix stamps have been reduced to dots, whereas they are very legible on this disc.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
