Description

In this auction:

  • “PRESS TO PLAY” LP by Paul McCartney

  • This is Capitol Records PJAS-12475.

  • This record was issued August 21, 1986.

  • This is a DESIGNATED PROMOTIONAL ISSUE with a punch hole at the top right corner of the front cover.

  • As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were typically ONLY released by record companies to VIPs in the industry and primarily to the radio stations and DJs for on-air play or for promotional give-away purposes. They were produced in very small/limited quantities and were NOT made available for sale to the general public; therefore, many promotional records are particularly hard-to-find these days and have become HIGHLY DESIRABLE to vinyl collectors and fans of certain recording artists/bands.

  • Capitol Records only marked the cover to identify the LP as a promotional or designated promotional issue. Capitol did not mark the labels on the vinyl as promotional; Therefore, a stock copy of the vinyl is inside the designated-promotional-marked cover.

  • ThIs LP is STILL SEALED in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. The shrink wrap has “breathe holes”.

  • The Shrink Wrap has a ROUND RED STICKER with WHITE PRINT that reads:

    includes

    PRESS

    ONLY LOVE REMAINS

    STRANGLEHOLD

    ANGRY

PJAS 12475 – Printed in USA

  • The GATE-FOLD COVER in the ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP is in VG+ CONDITION. (I can’t say it is MINT because of the designated promo punch hole; otherwise, it would be MINT.)

  • The VINYL IS MINT, UNPLAYED and still sealed inside the shrink-wrapped cover.

  • This LP was issued with the vinyl inside a thin poster-board GLOSSY INNER SLEEVE with song lyrics printed on both sides.

  • The front cover has a striking image of Paul and Linda. The rear cover states that George Hurrell took the photo using the same box camera he used in Hollywood in the 1930s. It’s not surprising that Linda, who was a notable photographer herself, would want to have this vintage photographic touch added to the LP.

  • The rear cover also states that “the images in the centre spread [gate-fold] are stereo drawings made by Paul to pin-point the positions, during mixing, of sounds in the stereo picture”.

This is a VERY NICE PAUL McCARTNEY STILL SEALED DESIGNATED PROMO LP to add to YOUR vinyl collection!
