UNCLE ALBERT/ADMIRAL HALSEY/TOO MANY PEOPLE ORIGINAL MONO PROMO 45 VG!
This promo 45 has a separate mono mix that was issued to radio stations only in 1971. Some stations at the time still couldn’t broadcast in stereo, making it necessary for Apple to create a different mix. This mix features some stark differences to the mix you know and love from your stereo copy. There is extra reverb (or echo) added, in order to provide a fuller sound over the airwaves. You hear it immediately when Paul starts to sing. Secondly, Paul and Linda’s backing vocals are pushed more forward on both sides of the disc. Thirdly of course, for those familiar with analogue mono sound, the soundstage has no right-to-left separation, which deepens the back-to-front information.
Sleeve: The company Apple sleeve is in excellent condition. It features full gloss, minimal wrinkles and minimal wear. No seam splits. (Your mono promo 45 will ship in a generic sleeve in order to not damage your company Apple sleeve during shipment.)
Vinyl: Both sides have moderate amounts of scratches. Some of them do sound during playback. There is a small patch of scratches on the “Too Many People” side that you can lightly feel. The radio station clearly had a lot of requests for this disc.
