Description

• Title: Please Please Me

• Artist: The Beatles

• Label: Parlophone / EMI Records Ltd

• Catalog Number: PCS 3042

• Format: 12” Vinyl LP, Stereo

• Country: UK

• Release Year: Originally 1963 — but based on further research, this is a later pressing, not a true 1963 first press.

• Label Type:

• Black/silver “EMI” boxed logo Parlophone label.

• “EMI” logo at the bottom = post-1969 pressing.

• Early first pressings (1963) used gold Parlophone or black/yellow Parlophone labels without any EMI logo.

• Matrix / Deadwax Numbers:

• Side 1: YEX 94-2

• Side 2: YEX 95-2

• These -2/-2 matrix numbers are standard for many stereo represses, from the mid-1970s onward.

• Cover:

• Angus McBean photo front cover — correct.

• No “Printed and Made by Ernest J. Day” credit, meaning it’s a repress, not an original cover from 1963.

• Back cover is consistent with mid-1970s pressings.

• Inner Sleeve:

• Generic EMI “Important Notice” sleeve — again standard for the 1970s pressings.

• Sleeve:

• Very clean front, minor aging on the back edges.

• Slight yellowing around edges, but minimal wear overall.

• Graded: VG+ to EX (Excellent Minus)

• Vinyl Disc:

• Some very light visible dust, but no major scuffs or gouges noted.

• Would likely play VG+ to EX with cleaning.

• Labels look clean, minor spindle trails.
