This early UK MONO pressing dates from just after initial March 1963 release on the GOLD & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202

This copy is unusual because it bears BOTH variants of the black & gold Parlophone labels.

The side 1 label has the 2nd variant with 'Northern Songs' publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2.

The side 2 label carries the 1st variant with 'Dick James Mus.' publishing credits for tracks 4 & 6.

An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.

Stamper codes: 1/RM & 1,2/GO

Vinyl weight: 170g

Housed within a correct-type front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit positioned in the extreme lower right corner and with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are clean & bright with no damage or wear to any of the delicate gold lettering. In fact apart from a touch of wear around each centre hole, there is little to fault on either.

Visual: VERY GOOD

Both playing surfaces are clean and retain a good deal of their factory sheen. There are several light surface marks and hairline scratches on each side, but nothing deep or feelable. Closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp adds only some wispy paper hairlines & a sparkling rainbow shine, but no other significant marks or wear. Both sides of this heavy pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: VERY GOOD +

Despite having been played many times, the sound quality is very respectable and highly listenable. My single careful play-check at volume detected a hint of background on 'Anna' and a touch of playwear on the last track on each side only. There were no heavy clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major audible distractions anywhere.

Cover: GOOD -

As you can see, this cover is showing its 50 years and is quite tired. However, the front panel is clean with just a few slight scratches from storage and no heavy creasing. There is some wear to the tips of each corner and a little to each opening edge. The rear panel bears evidence of ancient repair but is free from any writing or missing paper. The lower seam has been taped but the upper seam and the spine are undamaged.

The spine is clean, fully laminated and unworn with perfect unworn text.

Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD

General storagewear but no major faults.
