Description

THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
Here is an opportunity to acquire the most desirable of all Beatles original UK records; a 1st pressing STEREO 'Please, Please Me'.

Although not in the condition I usually like to offer, it may be a chance to obtain this legendary pressing at an affordable price.

This genuine 1st pressing dates from initial April 1963 release and bears gold & black Parlophone stereo labels: PCS 3042

Both labels are 1st variant-type with 'Dick James Mus.' publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2 on side 1, and 4 & 6 on side 2.

A 'ZMT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.

Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1

Stamper codes: 1/R & 1/G

Vinyl weight: 168g

Housed within a correct-type front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed stereo cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit positioned in the extreme lower right corner. Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: GOOD

As you can see, both labels display some wear but little of it to the fragile gold lettering. There some scratches, fingermarks and turntable wear to both but no stickers, writing or missing paper.

Visual: GOOD

The playing surfaces of this 'collection-filler' copy are clean but do display moderate surfacewear in the form of numerous light marks & hairlines. The only major blemish is a feelable mark which goes over the last 3 tracks on side 2, ending just over the edge of the label in the 11 o'clock position. Both sides of this heavy pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: VERY GOOD -

This copy has been played many times but does sound better than it looks and due to the quality of the pressing, it is still a comfortable listen. My single careful play-check at volume detected some moderate crackle between tracks and some at a low level beneath the music. However there are no heavy clicks, pops, jumps, repeats or any other major audible faults.

Cover: VERY GOOD

A clean, fully intact & correct example with moderate storagewear but no major faults. The front panel is unfaded & unblemished with light storage rubbing to the laminate but no 'thumbnails' or any other creasing. There is wear to each corner and a 2.5cm split to the lower right. Both opening edges do display a little 'feathering' but have no tears to either side. The rear panel is clean overall with some storage marking but is free from any writing or missing paper. There is some repair to the lower flipback but both seams are unstressed and unsplit and the spine is clean and fully worded.

Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD

General storagewear but no major faults.
