The Vinyl
Side 1 is Excellent, with superb, crisp mono sound. A few very light hairline surface marks, but no scratches or anything that effects the audio. I detected 3 - 4 light "ticks" in the run-out to "Chains", but no other issues at all. This LP is amazing as it really captures the "Live" sound of the recording. Almost like being in the room!! The Vinyl retains its gloss, with no groove wear evident. Very clean playback, and a joy to listen to, with just the very lightest of background between tracks. Side 2 Excellent as well. Again, playback is great, with no sticks, jumps or distortion, and just minimal light hairline surface marks. I detected 3 - 4 very light "ticks" at the fade out to "A Taste Of Honey", but otherwise clean throughout. This record has not been overplayed and has super sound!!
The Labels
These labels are the 3rd variant for the first press of this LP, with no "recording first published" text, and with the new Black and Yellow Parlophone labels. I would grade both sides as Ex, with some spindle hole wear, and spindle alignment traces. All text is clear, clean and unfaded.
The Sleeve
This record comes in its original Tri flipback EJ Day sleeve, which features the first issue "Angus Mcbean" credit to the extreme right, aligning under the final "S" in "Songs". This sleeve is in fairly rough condition, with top and bottom edge wear, and numerous creases, etc. The rear panel is scruffy, and there is some wear to the flipbacks. In fact, the bottom flipback, while still attached to the back panel, has separated from the back panel, right along the edge, resulting in an actual tear. See the close-up photo where I have lifted the affected portion. Amazingly, this fits cleanly back into place, as illustrated in the wider back panel photo, so it may be repairable. Somewhat surprisingly, the spine is really great, with all text clear, so it looks great when on the shelf!! I can only grade this sleeve as Fair, and is basically a collection filler example until a better one comes along.
The Inner Sleeve
This comes with its original Emitex inner, with clear poly centre hole, and is in EX condition. Somewhat yellowed, it is still a great example, with only the smallest split beginning on one side. Still quite crisp.
