The Beatles - Please Please Me

(Parlophone PMC 1202 UK LP 1963)

This is a 1963 UK original Mono LP pressing. Technically, it is the first black & yellow "Parlophone" UK pressing from 1963. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a large sized "Mono" on the front. The sleeve is printed by "E.J. Day". This copy has the earliest UK sleeve. This has the "Angus McBean" text starting after the "s" of "Songs" on the front sleeve. This is the sleeve variation that all the highly prized "Black & Gold" UK Mono pressings have. Therefore, this sleeve could be used for a "black & gold" UK Mono pressing if you are lucky enough to have one spare. It comes with its original tracing-paper lined "Emitex" company inner sleeve.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & yellow "Parlophone" labels. These have "The Parlophone Co..." and "Recording First..." texts. The "KT" tax code is embossed around Side 1's label. The matrix numbers (& mother stampers), are as follows{

Side 1: XEX 421-1N (AD 1)
Side 2: XEX 422-1N (OM 4)

A genuine 1963 UK original Mono LP pressing in a very serviceable overall condition. Playback is very nice overall. This copy also has the earliest UK sleeve variation. This has the "Angus McBean" credit in the same place as the extremely collectible "black & gold" UK Parlophone pressings. This is a 1st "black & yellow" Parlophone UK pressing. These are not that common.

Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the two corner tips at the sleeve opening. This has caused a very small 1 cm seam split at both the sleeve opening corner tips too. There is moderate rubbing wear to bottom corner tip at the spine. There is some light, mild or more moderate rubbing wear at the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable overall. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear/ creasing to the top edge of the bottom flipback on the rear sleeve. There are 3 or 4 light laminate creases on the front. There are a few pin-head sized areas of rubbing wear on the bottom edge. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. The spine is in very nice condition in the main. Overall, Very Good condition

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. Therese, again, can only be seen under a strong light. There are 4 light surface hairline marks. These are all very small & measure from 1 cm to 2 cm in length. Overall, Very Good+ condition. The labels are in Very Near Excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear only.

The company "Emitex" inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. Overall, a very decent audio copy.
