The Beatles
Please Please Me
Black & Gold
Here we are Beatle fans...A really rather rare Australian Black & Gold pressing of The Beatles' iconic first album. This particular copy was released to the Australian public back in December 1963-showing how widespread The Beatles' influence really was.

Matrix numbers:
Side 1: XEX 421-1N
Side 2: XEX 422-1N
Mothers (no stampers):
Side 1: 1

Nice early pressing here.
Vinyl: VG+. Gorgeous heavyweight vinyl which is as flat as the day it was born-48 years ago! She has quite a few light marks to her. I have just played her through, finding one tiny skip at the start of Misery, but I do have a light needle and I think with a good clean, it could well disappear alltogether. She screams out with the original raw feeling radiating from this groundbreaking album.
*SOUNDS SIMPLY FAB*
Labels: VG. Yep, it is the rare Black & Gold Parlophone label in pretty fine condition too! No writing to the label anywhere, with just some light hole wear and a couple of very small areas of lifting to the label...Nothing to worry about at all...Please see images.
Light spindle marks and of course, not tax code.
Rim text: "Copyright Record.-All Rights.." in both upper and lower case.
"Made In Australia By E.M.I (Aust.) Limited"
It also has the "33 1/3 R.P.M." at 3 O'clock to both sides.
*Very, VERY displayable*
Cover: Unfortunately quite a poor cover. It has a tear to the opening and split to the spine, as well as writing to both the front and the back. It would make a good filler for the collector.
However, having said that it is the original sleeve, made in Australia:
"Made And Distributed In Australia By E.M.I. (Australia) Limited, Sydney, New South Wales"
printed to the back.
Inner: VG+. It is a good old poly-lined inner, with the "Made In Great Britain" tex to the bottom right. It has certainly done it's job in keeping the record in very good condition over the last 48 years!
ALL IN ALL, THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A GENUINE BLACK AND GOLD COPY OF AN INCREASINGLY RARE PRESSING.
I AM ALSO SELLING THE BLACK AND GOLD LABEL VERSION OF "WITH THE BEATLES"-SO GRAB 'EM BOTH, FOR SOME SUPERB POP HISTORY.

On 06-Feb-11 at 18:07:13 GMT, seller added the following information:PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE COVER IS, AS STATED, QUITE POOR-I DO NOT WANT FURTHER DEALINGS WITH PEOPLE THAT DO NOT READ THE DESCRIPTION AND THEN LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK...THEY WASTE MY TIME AND RUIN MY REPUTATION BY THEIR OWN STUPIDITY.
SORRY TO THE GENUINE BIDDERS, IT HAS TO BE SAID.
