This 1st day of issue copy features extremely early stampers on both sides & features the alternate 'remix 11' take of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' available only on mono discs with the XEX 606-1 side 2 matrix.

Purchased on day of release in August 1966 from Brian Epstein's 'NEMS' record store in Liverpool, this great sounding UK MONO 1st pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7009

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'the Parlophone Co..' worded rim texts.

The side 2 label carries the 'Dr. Robert' spelling & a 'KT' purchase tax code.

Matrix numbers: XEX 605-2 & XEX 606-1

Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/R

Disc weight: 166g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with the small 'mono' front indicator together with its original 'Patents Applied For' plain white inner-sleeve.

This particular copy was purchased from Brian Epstein's 'NEMS' record shop in Liverpool and comes complete with its original plastic sleeve which has the following text printed along its top edge: 'A polythene cover is provided FREE OF CHARGE with every long playing record purchased from 'NEMS LTD.'

Labels: EXCELLENT

A clean & bright pair with just a small collection of light spindle marks around each centre hole indicating infrequent, careful play.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Both playing surfaces of this well looked-after copy retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines and are free from any scuffs or scratches when viewed in strong daylight. Even closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more than a small number of harmless wispy paper hairlines. Both sides of this superior copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing and would be difficult to upgrade.

Play: EXCELLENT +

A real pleasure to find a great sounding, unworn copy of this jewel. This disc has received minimal careful play on excellent equipment and my single careful play-check at volume found no evidence of any groove/play wear distortion on any track. There was also an absence of any of the annoying background crackle and break up on any other quieter track on side 1 which normally blights 99% of copies of this LP. The entire album was also free from any click, pops, ticks or other such distraction making this one very difficult to upgrade.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

An extremely clean, strong and unworn example which has been carefully stored in a non-smoking environment all its life. The front panel is perfectly clean, glossy and most importantly white, with just four 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards its front opening edge and a handful of tiny spine wrinkles. All corners are free from any bumps or bruises and both opening edges sharp and unworn. The rear panel is clean & black where it should be with no ring-wear, writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are perfectly clean & fully intact and both seams and the spine are all smooth, unstressed and unworn.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean & flat with just a faint disc impression and no writing, tears or seam splits.
