THE BEATLES - REVOLVER

A very nice copy of this increasingly rare 1966 UK 2nd pressing, MONO, PMC 7009 in overall very good+ condition with nice shiny vinyl,  impressive audio quality, nice original flip back outer sleeve, and excellent original inner sleeve

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  XEX 605 - 2 with stampers "6" and "G 0H" at 8.30 o'clock and 2.30 o'clock respectively

Side 2  XEX 606 - 3 with stampers "4" and "G AH" at 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively

The overall appearance and condition of the heavy duty vinyl is very good plus (VG+). The vinyl is nicely flat and in normal daylight  comes across as excellent plus, with a gleaming jet black sheen and looking beautiful! With closer scrutiny under a bright light a few wispy hairlines and light scuff marks do come into view on each side of the vinyl, however, but there is nothing here that is feelable or obviously below the surface and all of these minor blemishes appear to be superficial only (borne out by the overall excellent MONO audio quality - see below).

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). All text and the Parlophone logo remain perfectly intact including the all important "THE GRAMOPHONE COMPANY..." and "SOLD IN THE U.K..." text which are indicative of original UK 2nd pressings (true first pressings have the side two matrix 606-1). The "K" and "T" tax codes also sit proud on the side 1 label. If it wasn't for just a few very light spindle trails adjacent to the spindle hole on each label the labels would be perfect. 

The front side laminated and rarer Ernest J. Day outer sleeve is in very good+ condition. All edges remain very firm with no scuffing and that includes the spine where all text remains perfectly intact and legible and the only slight blemish is a few light age spots. There is the occasional small, light laminate crease adjacent and perpendicular to the spine and bottom edge and the hint of some very light age discolouration in the form of some vertical browning adjacent to the opening edge (both opening edges remain firm with no fraying). The reverse side flip backs are in excellent shape with just a little light creasing at the bottom left corner and all corners remain nicely defined right angles with barely any rubbing. Hold the sleeve at the right angle in a bright light and some very minor ring wear becomes apparent in the top half of the sleeve on both sides and on the reverse side the letters "ASM" have been written into the "V" of "REVOLVER". So, a few blemishes but the iconic nature of this sleeve has not been diminished with all colouring, photos and artwork remain in excellent condition. Not quite excellent but certainly a solid VG+ and remaining highly presentable.

Finally, the quality of the audio is overall very good+. No skips, jumps, repeats, nasty clicks or intrusive background crackle...just some very, very light background crackle at the beginning and end of each side and during a few of the quieter moments and interludes but this is very trivial and does not spoil the enjoyment of this LP, with every track making for a great listen in wonderful MONO audio, with overall excellent tone and clarity even at higher frequencies and higher volume.

Comes complete with original, excellent condition poly lined die-cut "USE EMITEX" inner with no tears or splits, just some minor creasing, and remaining 100% fully functional. Excellent!  Note that I always post the record(s) in a new plain white inner sleeve(s) in order to protect the original(s).

In summary a highly collectible copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1966 UK early MONO pressing Beatles classic, a worthy addition to any serious Beatles vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard crucifix style mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
