Description
Listed here is an original UK MONO copy of Rubber Soul by The Beatles from December of 1965. Important to this copy is its rare matrix numbers of the standard -4 cut on Side 1 and the -1 LOUD CUT on Side 2. This means you can enjoy both the standard cut and compare it with the rarer -1 Loud Cut on the same record. Few of these were pressed and were done most likely by mistake when the factory was transitioning from the -1 to the -4.
RECORD: Side 1 is in VG- condition with many marks most noticeably three long clearly visible wisps close together. There is also a lot of spindle wear. Side 2 is in VG condition with less marks but still has a lot of spindle wear. I play tested the entirety of the record using an Ortofon 2M Blue and the sound is good but with surface noise throughout particularly on quieter sections most noticeably on Side 1. There is also a lot of groove wear on the track Michelle and a little on Run For Your Life. The sound will be improved with a good cleaning and by making the sound truly mono such as through a mono button, double y cables, or a mono cartridge. COVER: Very Good Minus with a lot of laminate creasing on the front and some standard age related marks on the back along with some tape residue on the top right corner.
INNER: Original inner is included but has seam splits on the left and right side, creasing along corners, and has some tears of the paper near the center on both sides.
As many know the Beatles intended their music to be heard in mono for most of their career and it is definitely true here where the hard left right panning of the stereo mix falls leagues behind the sublime beauty of the mono mix.
Will be shipped in a cardboard mailer with the record put in a new poly lined inner sleeve separated from the cover.
