Description
THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'
This respectable UK 1st pressing dates from initial release in December 1965 and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1267
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.
An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 579-1 & XEX 580-1
Stamper codes: 1/AD & 4/GT
Vinyl weight: 160g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex...' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: VERY GOOD
Both are clean & intact but have a fair number spindle trails and light wear around each centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Clean, bright & glossy playing surfaces which apart from two or three tiny 2mm scratches at the end of track 4 on side 2 are free from any major blemishes on strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals some harmless wispy hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal but no further significant wear. Both sides of this cherished, heavy copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Play: VERY GOOD +
Despite frequent play, there is no significant deterioration to the sound quality overall which is respectable throughout. My single careful play-check uncovered some light wear on 'Michelle' and some light clicks towards the end of In My Life' from the aforementioned scratches. Apart from that, there really is little else to fault.
Cover: EXCELLENT -
A clean & strong example which displays a clean & richly coloured front panel which displays a handful of faint 'thumbnails' and a few light storage lines, but no heavy creasing or wear. There are tiny rubs to each corner's extremity but no heavy bumps to any. Downgraded slight from EX due to a faint, partially erased pen line on the rear panel which is otherwise extremely clean & white. All flipbacks, both seams and the spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean, flat and crisp with just a hint of age-toning, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
