THE BEATLES: ‘SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND’ – AN ORIGINAL 1967 UK FIRST ISSUE BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE STEREO VINYL LP - PCS 7027
RARELY SEEN LARGER FONT, CLEAN LABELS, FINE EXCELLENT VINYL, NICE SLEEVE, GREAT AUDIO, RARE VARIANT
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
The FIRST ISSUE STEREO VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the SUPERB record labels labels.
Please note that the typeface on each record label appears to be in larger format, and the characters are more WIDELY SPACED apart, in comparison to the majority of originals that we see with thinner type set characters. In fact, this is only the third time, in many years, that we have offered an Original Sgt Pepper stereo with this larger font.
Both record labels are in IMPRESSIVE Excellent condition, very clen, unworn record labels, with NO handwriting or fading to the bold Yellow or Silver Printed text, and only a few light centre spindle lines to each label.
Side 1 stamped matrix: YEX 637-1 and Side 2: YEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3/GOM and Side 2: 1/GOP.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in FINE Excellent Plus condition, LOVELY, CLEAN, BRIGHT, UNWORN Vinyl showing just a few light wispy surface hairlines. There are NO deep scuffs or deep scratches.
Audio Quality:
The album plays EXTREMELY WELL from beginning to end - A CLEAR, STRONG STEREO sound with NO clicks or skips, just mid background crackle on the quieter tracks.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain’, which is a RESPECTABLE example, showing light creasing, age discolouration and seam splits to the bottom and side seams.
Also included is an ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED condition.
…..And is protected in an ORIGINAL First Issue Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PCS 7027 Stereo’ to the reverse.
The front and back of the sleeve are in Excellent Minus condition ,with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and only minimal record indentation to the front panel. There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges, with mild corner bruising to all four corners, The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in Excellent condition, and the two internal fold over flaps UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN, FIRM and UNDAMAGED, and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
An all round VERY RESPECTABLE example of this OBSCURE RARE FONT variant!
