Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Original UK FIRST ISSUES of this album in FINE and COMPLETE condition are particularly SOUGHT AFTER and have become increasingly DIFFICULT TO FIND in all round HIGHLY RESPECTABLE condition such as the one featured here.
Album Description and Condition:
The FIRST ISSUE STEREO VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the PRISTINE record labels labels.
Side 1 stamped matrix: YEX 637-1 and Side 2: YEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3/GL and Side 2: 4/RO.
There is an embossed KT tax/price code to the centre of the Side 1 record label.
Both sides of the Record Labels are in TOP near mint condition. This is a CLEAN, UNWORN Set of Record labels, with NO fading to the bold Yellow Print or the Silver Printed text, and nothing more than just a few, BARELY VISIBLE, centre spider trails to either side.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in SUPERB excellent plus condition, showing just a few light wispy surface hairlines.
Audio Quality:
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc - from beginning to end - play WITHOUT FAULT - A CLEAR, STRONG STEREO sound with NO clicks, NO skips or background noise and NO distortion.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner, which is in excellent condition, showing only some light inevitable creasing. There are NO seam splits to any of the edges.
…..And comes with an UNUSED, ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition.
The album is protected in an ORIGINAL First Issue Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PCS 7027 Stereo’ to the reverse.
What immediately strikes you about this IMPRESSIVE excellent plus sleeve is how GLOSSY the laminate is to the front, inner gatefold and reverse, with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and only minimal record indentation to the front panel (only visible when tilting the record around in the light). There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges, and only mild corner bumps to the bottom two corners. The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPERB near mint condition, and the two internal fold over flaps UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN, WHITE and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. There is only the mildest of feathering to the opening edges. The reverse panel of the sleeve is as IMPRESSIVE as the front, with only the mildest impression where the record has been stored (only visible when tilting the sleeve around in the light).
