Description:
With only 25,000 issued in Picture Sleeves, its not surprising that ‘STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER/PENNY LANE’ is one of THE BEATLES most SOUGHT AFTER Original UK Parlophone Singles. In fact only TWO of The Beatles ORIGINAL UK Studio Singles were issued in Picture sleeves - the other being ‘Let It Be’.
Released by Parlophone UK in 1967, ’Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane’ was a No 1 Hit Single for The Beatles. The FIRST ISSUE UK Parlophone Vinyl 45 is on the traditional Black and Silver Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ Label rim, with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text, and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the record label.
Side 1 matrix is: 7XCE 18415-1 and Side 2: 7XCE 18416-2.
Side 1 stampers are: KT/5/TG and Side 2: KT/1/LO.
There is an embossed ‘KT’ tax code visible around the centre of the Side 1 label.
The Vinyl 45 comes in its ORIGINAL 1967 First Issue WAVY TOP Thin Paper PICTURE Sleeve, of which, it is understood, only 25,000 were manufactured. The reverse of the sleeve correctly shows two fold over flaps - one to the bottom, where the E.M.I. Records, Hayes, Middlesex, England address is printed and the other to the right hand side of the sleeve.
Play Quality:
Both tracks play SUPERBLY, without any faults, skips or clicks – A SMOOTH CLEAR Sound.
Condition:
Both sides of the record labels are in SUPERB near mint condition, a BRIGHT, UNDAMAGED set of record labels, with no more than a couple of faint centre spider trails to either side.
Both sides of the Vinyl disc are in LOVELY near mint condition, BARELY PLAYED, the NEW LOOKING, DEEP GLOSSY Vinyl surfaces show nothimg more than a few faint surface hairlines, but certainly no deep scratches or scuffs.
The Original First Issue UK PICTURE Sleeve is the CLEANEST and most IMPRESSIVE example that we have offered for a very long while and in STRONG excellent plus condition (bordering near mint). These very delicate paper sleeves RARELY survive in such COLLECTIBLE condition. Surprisingly, there is NO tearing, NO seam splits and NO handwriting and NO Yellowing to any of the edges of the sleeve. All that is visible is some mild inevitable creasing. Even the curves to the top edge are UNDAMAGED - VERY UNUSUAL to find with NO tearing to the top opening edges.
