Description

Beatles Seargant Pepper Rare Russian Vinyl Version

This record was issued in 1992 on the “Red Target Anfon” label based in St. Petersburg, as the Western version was banned in the Soviet Union.

The cover is unique in that the front is a modified version of the original Sgt. Pepper cover with the title on the drum in Cyrillic and a photo of Andrey Tropillo (the owner of the Anfon label) pasted in next to Edgar Allen Poe. Tropillo’s freind also appears on the cover, replacing Karl Marx. Furthermore there is a person looking out above Paul McCartney’s waxwork.

Also very unusually this is not a double gatefold and therefore only John and Ringo appear on the reverse of the cover, along with track listings in Russian.

I am only aware of 500 copies being made of the double gatefold that included Revolver, i can’t find any information online regarding this version.
