READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles’ Second Album 1969 LP “Subsidiary of…” Error Beautiful NM Vinyl!

Many collectors are well-aware of the 1971 pressing with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of Side 1 having this error.  Not many are aware that the “Subsidiary of…” label also carried it.

The second song on Side 2 has an erroneous numeral 2 printed beside the songwriting credits for “Long Tall Sally.”  If you are seeking the more common 1971 issue, you’ll find it today.  If you’re seeking this “Subsidiary of…” pressing with the error, it will take you longer.

Vinyl--- NM/ NM.  Both sides look unplayed.

Plates--- B6/ B6.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.  Interesting side note, this asterisk is the old-style 1963 stamp, with the wide 5-pointed star.  If the plates are actually from 1963, they are early enough plates to be from the first run.  Definitely from the second run way back when!

Cover--- Very strong VG+.  Bottom seam has some missing slick and some light cracking.  Top seam has a tiny 1/8 inch missing slick at the left corner.  Spine is muscular-strong, text still as readable as it was new. 

Ballpoint numeral 4 written at top left.  Fading sticker price in that area as well.

Breathe Holes--- N/A.

Labels--- NM/ NM.  They look like they were just printed this morning.  NO SPINDLE MARKS. 

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut holes to allow the labels to show.

RIAA: 5. VERY scarce RIAA.  Also very early cover.  No “Gold Record Award” emblem on the front cover.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
