Description
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM” by the Beatles
· This LP is Capitol Records ST 2080.
· The vinyl comes in a Capitol-marked cover on front, rear, and spine.
· This is a STEREO Pressing.
· This LP was issued in 1964.
· According to Perry Cox, this LP, which is constructed of cardboard with cover slick pasted on, was issued from Capitol Records’ Scranton pressing plant. This is based on the number “3” printed on the rear cover at lower right.
· According to Cox, the Scranton plant pressed records up to 1969.
· The record in this auction has the RARE LABEL VARIATION. The second song on Side 2, “I CALL YOUR NAME”, is misspelled. It is printed as “I CALL YOU NAME”. This song is also credited to BMI and has NO Running Time. Check your Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Cox and you will see how this rare label variation is valued more compared to other stereo pressings of this LP.
· The VINYL has a triangle containing the letters “IAM” in the trail-off. This is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant.
· THEREFORE, this cover is correctly matched with the correct vinyl.
· NOTE: Some sellers may intentionally or accidentally switch vinyl and covers in order to create an LP with a higher grade cover and vinyl, but NOT correctly matched to the same pressing plant. I don’t do that. This is the correct cover and vinyl for this pressing/issue.
· The COVER is graded VERY NICE (VERY STRONG) VG CONDITION. There is overall aging of the cover and light overall wear. There are tiny corner pushes on the bottom left, bottom right and top right corners. The reverse is quite clean and white aside from a few small stains at bottom center and near the opening. (Check Images). The spine and seams are nice and strong with no wear or flaking.
· The VINYL is graded NICE VG+. There are just several light surface hairlines/scuffs.
· This LP comes with a tan Capitol Records inner paper sleeve which is not the correct sleeve for this vimyl. It should be a blue Capitol sleeve.
· It’s a GREAT BEATLES LP with the RARE LABEL MISSPELLING for YOUR Beatles or vinyl collection. it is from my own collection and is 1 of only 3 with the misspelled song title I've found in my years of collecting.
